The Lychgate

Lychgates are not that common - in the island of Guernsey there are only three of them. Vale, Forest and St Matthews (Cobo).

Built 1854 - restored July 2008 (click here to see images)
(1854 Rev. William Collings presented the turret, two bells and the lychgate)

The Lychgate at St Matthew's church is built in the main of seasoned oak from trees from St George's Estate c 1854. the only 'big house' in the parish of St Matthew.
