Funeral Service for the late Rev'd Claes Selim (Castel Church)

Friday, 20th Jan  (2:00pm-2:00pm)
Funeral Service at Ste Marie du Castel followed by interment in St Matthew's Cemetery. The formal notice will say "Private Interment" however, members of both congregations are free to attend if they wish. Following interment a reception with refreshments will be held in St Matthews Church hall.

Celebration of the Life of Rev'd Claes Selim (St Matthew's, Cobo)

A Service of Reception at St Matthew's Church led by The Dean of Guernsey. During this first celebration of Claes' life, his coffin will be brought into church, followed by a service with hymns, music and readings. Claes' coffin will remain in St Matthew's Church overnight.

Caroline Kay-Mouat & Colin Hunt - Soirée Musicale - French songs from the UK's top Lyric Coloratura Soprano (St Matthew's, Cobo)

The grand finale of St Matthew’s Concert Series features two artists flying in from the UK for a SOIREE MUSICALE: Lyric Coloratura Soprano Caroline Kay-Mouat and her versatile accompanist Colin Hunt.

Let yourself be enchanted by Caroline’s extraordinary voice as she delivers a programme of delicious French Song. Caroline studied at the Conservatoire de Paris and the Conservatoire Nationale Superieur de Lyons. She made her stage debut at The Chatelet in Paris, moved to England to study with Laura Sarti at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama and took further studies at the Welsh College of Music and Drama where she also lectured in French Song. She divides her time between teaching, translating (French Song) and performing.

Included in the ticket price are post concert drinks and canapés overlooking Vazon Bay at sunset.

This evening’s concert is a feast of choral music brought to you by the Island Churches Festival Chorus under the leadership of well known Guernseyman Roy Sarre.

Featuring the operatic voice of local soprano Jose Paine, who performs a programme of easy listening works for voice, with a sacred flavour including a version of Faure’s famous Pavane.

Since returning from touring the U.S.A. Jose has performed extensivelhy in her native Guernsey and is looking forward to making her debut at St Matthew’s Concert Series this summer.

She is joined by special guests Trevor Davies and Adrian Tostevin, both fine trumpeters, for what is set to be a very enjoyable evening.

We have invited all the children between 4 and 6 years old who were baptised in this church over the last 5 or 6 years. There will be many activities for them, including craft, music, games, story telling and cooking pancakes.

The 10.30 Service will be shortened to enable the congregation to join in the event.

Perhaps you know of friends of your children or grandchildren, other relatives or children who live nearby. If you let Colin Guilbert know on Tel 254464 or email cosuguil@guernsey.net then he will send them an invitation which will include details of the event.
